Plane turns around when passenger on-board realizes she left her baby at the airport

A Saudi flight bound for Malaysia was forced to return to the Jeddah airport after taking off last weekend. A mother who was flying with them alerted the cabin crew to her emergency — she had forgotten her baby at the terminal’s boarding area. Thankfully, both the crew and air traffic control were very understanding and acted quickly to solve the issue.

A video of the exchange between the flight’s captain and air traffic control verifies these events, though the conversation is carried out in what is most likely Arabic. The transcript from The Guardian translates it as such:

Pilot: May God be with us. Can we come back?

Operator: This flight is requesting to come back. A passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing.

[Pause]

Pilot: I told you, a passenger has left her baby in the terminal and she is refusing to continue the flight.

Operator: OK, head back to the gate. This is a totally new one for us.

(WATCH: Pilot flies for the first time with his family on board and gives a special message)

It is reported that the mother and baby were able to safely reunite. However, no further information was given as to how the mother happened to forget to bring her baby on-board. Sounds very Home Alone, if you ask me.
