Critically acclaimed actress Jaclyn Jose couldn’t help but share her thoughts about parents who tend to be controlling of their children.
On Instagram, she posted an old photo of her daughter, Andi Eigenmann, and reflected on what the responsibility of a parent should be.

“I am a single mom of 2, I worked so hard to make them feel that everything was ok,” she began on her post.
“Napuputulan ng ilaw o ‘di makabayad rental, but that doesn’t mean na ipapasa ko problema ko sa mga anak ko… I haven’t gotten a single centavo sa mga anak ko. Kakayanin ko lahat para sa mga anak ko,” she continued.
(“Our lights would get cut off or we couldn’t pay rent, but that doesn’t mean I would pass my problems to my children. I haven’t gotten a single centavo from them. I would endure it all for my children.”)
She then proudly shared that she did her best to raise her children without being too controlling of them.
“I did all my best to raise them. Happy lang…no controlling para ‘pag time naman nila gawin nila naman para sa mga anak nila (Just happiness…no controlling so that, when it’s their time, they will do it all for their children too),” she said.
“Di ako nakikisawsaw sa (I’m not being nosy on) issue just giving my point. Let them [be.] At the end, they will [be] more responsible…us parents must understand our children[.] Let them leave madadapa yan pero babangon kung hahayaan natin sila (they will stumble, but they will always get up if we let them be),” she added.
Jaclyn also advised parents to not depend on their kids to “pay” for their needs. “‘Wag i-obligate (Don’t obligate) your children to pay your dreams, they have their own too.”

This post comes after recent news that Sarah Geronimo’s mother Divine allegedly showed up unannounced at Sarah and Matteo’s civil wedding last week. According to an interview done in 2011, Divine has admitted to being “overprotective” of Sarah especially when it came to relationships.
