Â
I knew I was in for another great time at COVA Tapas y Sangria that night…
I just couldn’t get enough of that place! I adore their food sooooo much!
For this night, I got invited to their food and wine pairing event featuring the fine wines of Stonehedge.
Â
Â
I’d like to make this clear though that I’m NOT a wine expert! I must admit to be a casual wine drinker though. Frank and I have grown to appreciate drinking wine during our travels. We find it very pleasurable and healthy. Due to this, my curiosity in knowing more about wines grew, that a few months ago I started to really get to know the basics. When I heard about this event, I knew I just had to be there!
Â
Â
We started the night with with fabulous appetizers and with some Chardonnay.
One thing I learned about wine drinking is that, no matter what kind of wine you’re having, you should always hold your glass by the STEM! Remember this ok?Â
Â
Â
Â
Let me show you the yummy appetizers we tried….
Â
 Pumpkin and Mozzarella Croquetas
Â
Â
Â
 Steak Pintxos with Chimichuri
Â
Â
Â
 StuffedPortabello Mushrooms with oxtail ragu
Â
Â
Â
 2009 Stonehedge Reserve Chardonnay
fruity, balanced with a crisp acidity is how I would describe it. Goes well with cheese and full-flavored dishes.
Â
Â
New England Clam Chowder Espuma with Maple Glazed JamonÂ
My most unforgettable Clam Chowder so far. The consistency was very light and frothy but all the flavors were absolutely packed!
Partnered with the Chardonnay really well!
Â
Â
Â
The night was just starting and the people around me were really nice and friendly! It was great to see Tatyana (Cova owner) and other fellow foodies like Gerry and Eugene!  I was in good company!Â
Â
Â
Â
Fideua with duck breast, foie gras, cranberries and jamonÂ
I really can’t find the proper praises for this with all the flavors and textures complimenting each other… phew! I can’t get enough of this dish! It went perfectly with Stonehedge’s Pinot Noir
Â
Â
Â
Roast Pork Cochinillo Style with Apple SauceÂ
Another best from Cova! Crispy Pork skin, tender meat with that subtle sweetness from the apple sauce! Oh Please somebody stop me!
Â
Â
Â
  2009 Stonehedge Reserve Merlot
this was just perfect with the Cochinillo! I swear!
Â
Â
Â
  2009 Stonehedge Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
the flavors of plum, black cherries and oak all in 1! Very sophisticated and medium bodied! Went perfectly with the risotto dish!
Â
Â
Â
 Goat Cheese Orzo RisottoÂ
awwww you just can’t go wrong with cheese! I love everything with it and this is another must try at Cova!
Â
Â
Â
We had a wine writer that night by the name of Sir Sherwin who definitely knew what her was talking about. Learned new useful wine-related terms! hihihiihi
Â
Â
Â
Apple Fritters with salted caramel sauceÂ
Lastly, I got the chance to meet this lovely dessert once again! I like fried desserts since those creamy usual choices are too common.
Â
Â
Â
2009 Stonehedge Terroir Select Muscat Canelli
I’m a huge Merlot lover but this one became a new favorite of mine! Stonehedge’s Muscat Canelli was definitely a crowd pleaser! I remember my fellow foodie Gerry raved about this a lot!  Light n sweet with hints of pear and peach! A great dessert wine!
Â
Â
Â
So when in Manila and would like to hangout and celebrate here at COVA, remember to partner their mouthwatering dishes with the fine selections of wines which Stonehedge has to offer!
