Ever since news broke out that white sand would be transferred to Manila Bay to turn it into a beach, netizens engaged in debates about how environmentally sound it was and if it was a good way to spend time and resources given that we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Surprisingly, DENR allowed people to come and see the beach, too, having them queue in droves to crowd the new white sand beach.
While people waited to see the new attraction, DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso inspected the new beach along with some other government officials. Behind them in the photo are the crowds of people waiting to get in.
