First COVID-19 case in Cavite has been confirmed

The first positive case of COVID-19 in Cavite has been confirmed to be a 48-year old male.

The returning seaman who hails from Imus City apparently passed through Narita Airport in Japan and is currently confined at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City, according to authorities.

Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi released an official statement on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) saying that the City Health Office is currently conducting contact tracing and containment measures while in constant communication with the Department of Health (DOH).

The mayor assures the public that the City Government of Imus is taking necessary actions to ensure the safety of the public through the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU).
