A local takoyaki store has been the target of criticism online after a Filipino netizen took their April Fools prank seriously, resulting in him getting the shop’s logo tattooed permanently on his forehead.
In a now-deleted post, Taragis Ta-Q-Yaki challenged its followers to tattoo their logo on their forehead to receive a prize of PHP100,000. Not knowing that the post was an April Fools Day joke, a man proceeded to do what was asked and left a comment saying that he was awaiting the response of the store to give him the promised reward.
Taragis Ta-Q-Yaki went under fire online for its April Fools prank (pictured left) which a Filipino netizen, Ramil Albano (pictured right), took seriously in the hopes of using the PHP 100,000 cash prize to fund his son’s education.
“Sir nag-pm po ako sa inyo ginagawa na po wait po ako ng chat ninyo [Sir I PM-ed you, I am getting the tattoo done, I will stand by for your message],” he wrote.
This garnered negative reactions from Pinoy netizens who demanded that Taragis be held accountable for the mishap. While some claimed that the netizen should have completely read and understood the nature of the post, others remarked that not all Filipinos are aware of the April Fools Day custom.
The victim explained that he took the post seriously hoping that he could use the prize money to pay for the tuition fee of his son who has Down Syndrome.
The owner of Taragis has since apologized and personally gave the PHP100,000 to the netizen as seen in their Facebook video.
