The road to the finals may have been tough for the defending champions, Sunken Pleasure, but a spectacular game full of layouts, quick points, and astounding plays against the Boracay Dragons in the semi-finals secured them a spot. The battle between Sid Vicious and Rogers was also pretty intense, with the former coming out victorious.
Finals this year was a little more dramatic than expected, with dark gray clouds, heavy winds, occasional drizzles, and a whole lot of lightning. With the obstinate weather and the many hecklers in the audience rooting for both equally strong teams, it was no doubt an exhilarating game to watch.
The cool, calm and collected Sunken Pleasure led the game the whole time, but not without Sid Vicious giving a good, hard fight. Great plays were made by SP’s big men, Peng Manlapaz and Emman Rodil, to be answered by the aggressive Will Steedman and Derek Ramsay.

In the end, Sunken Pleasure—led by mythical player, Xtian Guerrero, emerged triumphant and was once again named National Champions. 1st Runner-Up, of course, goes to the powerful and ever-competitive Sid Vicious, while 2nd Runner-Up was awarded to the zealous players of Boracay Dragons.

Because Ultimate is all about maintaining good vibes throughout the game, a special Spirit Award was given to the team that played their best while upholding good spirit, which is the very core of the sport. This was awarded again to Sunken Pleasure, for showing an excellent example of how a team’s attitude should be on the field.
When in Manila or in the country, Ultimate has definitely grown to be a sport that everybody loves. Congratulations to the Top 16 teams in the country who participated, and to Sunken Pleasure, Sid Vicious, and Boracay Dragons, for giving everyone a finale that was worth watching.
