Selena Gomez Reveals She Was Addicted To Instagram

Props to Selena for keeping it real.

The pop star and actress admitted that she was addicted to the social media platform Instagram, as a result of her low esteem and depression, which Selena cited as reasons for cancelling her world tour last year.

Selena, 24, is currently the most followed person on Instagram with over 113 million followers.

In an interview with Vogue, the singer revealed:

“As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out. It had become so consuming to me. It’s what I woke up to and went to sleep to. I was an addict.”

The former Disney star abruptly cut her world tour short in August last year, announcing that she was taking a hiatus to combat her panic attacks and anxiety. She later entered a rehab program that lasted 10 months.

Selena added:

“My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious. I started to have panic attacks right before getting onstage, or right after leaving the stage. Basically I felt I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t capable. I felt I wasn’t giving my fans anything, and they could see it — which, I think, was a complete distortion.”

We’re glad you got the help you needed, Sel.
