Captain Marvel is five films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe down the line and two years away, but news is already trickling in about the latest member of mega-franchise. First, it was announced that Brie Larson will be taking on the titular role, now it has been announced that Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising his role as Nick Fury in the film.
It hasn’t been announced formally, but sources have said that Jackson will be part of the film.
He was last seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which was released in 2015.
Fury is the head of S.H.I.E.L.D., an espionage, special law-enforcement, and counter-terrorism agency dealing in paranormal and superhuman threats.
Captain Marvel was known as Ms. Marvel, who first appeared in Ms. Marvel in 1977. Her alter ego is Carol Danvers, a member of the United States Air Force who becomes a hero when a fusion of alien Kree (an advanced militaristic alien race) and human genes gives her superhuman powers. IGN ranked her 11th in the list of top 50 Avengers.
Captain Marvel will premiere on March 8, 2019.
