Rose Manila – a Japanese Restaurant in Taguig
Rose Manila is a Japanese restaurant located in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. Adam, the owner, wanted a dining experience where customers enjoy a distinct and comforting food in a jolly atmosphere – thus the Philippine’s first floating sushi bar 🙂
A little trivia: Adam did the interior himself – he wanted it really simple, yet elegant and cool; but, was also very particular with the colors, texture and design.
To make it more unique, the chairs were custom made in Pampanga for Rose Manila.
Rose Manila’s cuisine is modern Japanese with a French twist. The sushi pieces were very fresh while the cooked food were so flavorful – best partnered with a bowl of rice 🙂
Firecracker Edamame (Php 180)
Edamame is one of my favorite snacks. We stock bags of these soybeans in the freezer. I usually have it the regular way – boiled in water and seasoned with salt. Rose Manila gave me a whole new idea! Their edamame was sauteed with a special sweet and spicy sauce. It was so good!
Vegetable Kakiage Roll
Rose Manila uses only organic vegetables – carrots, onions, asparagus, zucchini, battered in light tempura mixed with a special sauce similar to Teriyaki sauce
Chicken Cordon Blue Roll (Tuna of the Land Roll – Php 300)
Prime chicken breast wrapped around asparagus, carrot, cream cheese, quickly fried with a coating of crispy Japanese bread crumbs
Rose Manila marinated the chicken breast overnight to keep it tender and flavorful. Kids will truly love this and they wouldn’t even realize that they’re already eating vegetables :p
Tamari Sushi Trio (Php 120)
Rose Manila made eating sushi more fun – balls of shrimp sushi, flying fish roe, and salmon
I like spicy food so I enjoyed Rose Manila’s spicy tuna salad sushi wrapped in Japanese cucumber. Tip: Eat the whole piece to get the full taste.
Petit Four Sushi (Php 100)
pressed layers of sushi rice, tuna, roasted red pepper, natural and wasabi flying fish roe, topped with salmon sashimi Rose
Shrimp Tempura (Php 180 – 3 pcs)
Organic Vegetable Tempura (Php 160)
Rose Manila’s organic vegetable tempura was a really good treat – shitake mushroom, sweet potato, red bell pepper, carrots, asparagus and… GARLIC. The garlic was soaked in brine to reduce the spice – it was one of my favorite among the tempuras.
Ginger Marinated Pan-Fried Pork (Php 395)
thinly sliced pork loin with ginger-soy marinade and fresh bean sprouts – best with plain rice
Ocean Medley (Php 595)
salmon, shrimp and squid sauteed with organic vegetables
Rose Manila’s ocean medley can also be served in lunchtime portion for only Php 350 with rice and miso soup – perfect for those who want to eat “healthy.”
Rose Manila’s Bento Plate (Php 350)
The bento plate includes 4 pieces of sushi (with at least 1 shrimp), 1 rose tuna, takwan (Japanese pickles), Japanese fried rice, one main dish (beef, chicken or pork), miso soup and dessert.
WHEN IN ROSE MANILA, make sure you end the meal with Adam’s ice cream. We loved all flavors – it was hard to pick a favorite but the most popular was The Ambassador’s Butter Cream 🙂
Adam Lieberman (owner of Rose Manila) holding a super fresh chunk of tuna
Being a hands-on owner, Adam goes to the market every other night to personally pick the best value-for-money tuna from the suppliers. He also makes sure to maintain a delicate balance between the price and quality by serving a smaller portion at a reasonable price. With this, diners can share and try more food from Rose Manila’s menu.
Best time to try Rose Manila would be during their happy hours (5 – 7 PM during weekdays), where sushis from the river conveyor are 50% off! (only Php 25 per plate). Plus, if you add Php 199, you can have drink-all-you-can pale pilsen on draft – what a great deal!
