There’s a Bilao Being Sold in an Online Furniture Store for Nearly PHP 15k…

Apparently, what we usually see being used to serve pansit and kakanin can double as a “minimalist” wall decoration.

American furniture store Pottery Barn has been leaving Filipinos everywhere confused this past week when they posted an item for sale on its website that looked like a bilao and was listed as a decorative art piece. But the most shocking thing about it was the price tag: a whopping US9 (roughly PHP 14.

3K) for just one item!

“Round out your accent wall with this impressive woven art piece made from bamboo. Reminiscent of open-air market selling baskets, with a slightly concave shape and shallow rim, it adds warmth, texture and eclectic style wherever it’s hung,” the official description of the Round 42″ Bamboo Wall Art read.

The store also posted about the item on its Facebook page.

“Now trending: Hawaiian-inspired layers. We love the oversized botanical motifs and artisanal craftsmanship of our handcrafted Hawaiian-inspired textiles,” it wrote.

Filipinos went on social media to share their thoughts on the expensive bilao, some of them making jokes about how they can just get one for free from local restaurants. “Sana manlang may pansit (It should have included pansit),” others joked.
