The Plugged-In Conference is coming to UP Manila on November 11, 2017 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the UP Manila Theater. Plugged-In’s morning session, Synergy: Where Ends Meet, is about the role of communication in different fields and disciplines. The afternoon session, Converge: Where Communication Meets Media, focuses on communication techniques for various media.

Carla Paras-Sison, who has over twenty years of experience in business writing, will open the conference as the keynote speaker by giving a talk on communication in Philippine society.

Synergy will then feature three talks by speakers from different disciplines: Alexis Ventura, a designer at Ink Scribbler, for business, Adi Timbol-Hernandez, president of the Philippine Association of National Advertisers, for marketing, and Attorney Maureen Lontoc-Inciong for law.

“Communication is what keeps us connected in today’s fast-paced society,” says Philip Basmayor, Director for Synergy. “Now, more than ever, it is important to recognize its role in linking various disciplines and fields. Communication is the key to making ends meet.”

In the afternoon, Converge will feature three talks by speakers with expertise in different media platforms: John Nery, former Editor-in-Chief of Inquirer.com, for print media, Ogilvy & Mather’s Gabby Dario for social media, and actor, TV host, and film producer Ramon Bautista for audiovisual media.

“We live in a society that continues to make us all more and more interconnected,” says Gabrielle Estrada, Director for Converge. “As such, it becomes increasingly important for us to know how to use the different media platforms that connect us.”

The conference, organized by BA Organizational Communication students, is open to all UP Manila students and faculty. Registration begins at 8:30 am. Admission is free.
