The Original Mulan Made a Cameo in the New Live-Action Film! Here’s Where to Spot Her

In case you haven’t heard, the new live-action remake of the Disney classic Mulan just premiered to inspire a new generation of kids to be strong, confident, and empowered to fight for what they believe in, no matter how much others may put them down.

And although this remake isn’t exactly comparable to the animated film due to the obvious differences (such as the exclusion of song numbers and key characters we grew up loving), the live-action Mulan did not neglect to pay tribute to the classic by giving the original Mulan a beautiful cameo appearance!

In the 2020 movie, after Hua Mulan (played by Liu Yifei) defeats the villain and saves all of China, she is then presented to the emperor (played by Jet Li) by a woman while an instrumental version of “Reflection” plays in the background. That woman is none other than Ming-Na Wen, the actress who voiced the heroine in the 1988 animated version!

Though it was a short cameo, it truly gave us 90s kids all the feels—especially hearing her voice and watching her walk down that aisle in the palace to the music of the iconic song.
