Rapper Nicki Minaj took to Twitter just this morning to announce the news of her retirement from the music industry. She talked about moving on from music to focus on having a family instead. Fans (and basically the whole internet) are going crazy over this declaration, with many questioning if this could be a joke.
She tweeted, “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, X in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”
Aside from the obvious desire to become a mom (and soon), Twitter users point out how the tweet seems to make a jab at some of her haters, as well. They speculate that Nicki could simply be ‘blowing off steam’.

Of course, we shouldn’t forget that Nicki and her boyfriend, Kenneth Petty, did just acquire their marriage license. And according to TMZ, the rapper has already taken to calling him her husband (though there’s been no news of an actual wedding having taken place yet). With the two so seemingly excited about starting their life together, it makes sense for them to also have kids on the brain.
