Nadine Lustre and Mikhail Red are reuniting for another horror movie following the success of Deleter.

The actress and director will work on Nokturno, which is about a “primal and supernatural curse that haunts a rural Filipino family and the daughter who left them to live overseas.”

There is no release date but it is reported to be released this year.

In Deleter, Lustre played Lyra, whose job is to filter graphic content from social media platforms. She seems to be fit for the job, as her co-workers and boss see her as a “cold person unfazed by the disturbing imagery she sees on a daily basis.”

However, “what they do not know is that Lyra hides a deep trauma. Lyra’s attempt to erase and forget her past has forced her to don an apathetic face to the horrors of the world.”

Variety, which broke the news of the teaser trailer, described Deleter as a “film that straddles the techno-horror and psychological thriller genres.”

Deleter was a success, earning seven awards at the 48th Metro Manila Film Festival, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Lustre, Best Cinematography for Ian Guevarra, and Best Director for Red. It also earned P240 million locally.

Red is also the director behind other successful films. His movie Birdshot was the Philippines’ entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, and it is the first Filipino film to be released on Netflix. Dead Kids is the first Filipino Netflix original film. Red is also working on the third season of the HBO Asia series Halfwords.
