Although the number of confirmed cases is climbing, it is important to note that the recovery rate is going up as well.

According to Johns Hopkins University, there are about 106,000 confirmed cases worldwide on Saturday. Although there are 3,586 deaths recorded, 59,916 patients have already recovered, the majority of whom are in China, where the virus originated, according to the university.

From the Johns Hopkins tracker, 45,011 patients from Hubei in Mainland China have already recovered. Following it is Iran with 1,669 patients who have recovered in comparison to 5,823 confirmed cases.

In the Philippines, there are six confirmed cases where there is one death and one patient has already recovered.

People who don’t suffer from underlying conditions and are not elderly are generally expected to recover, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci said.

“However, every once in a while you’re going to see a 25-year-old person, who looks otherwise well, that’s going to get seriously ill. But the vast majority of people who get into trouble do have these underlying conditions,” Fauci added.
