Victoria’s Secret made a leap towards inclusivity recently with its new campaign, which introduces Sofía Jirau, the brand’s first model with Down Syndrome.

She is part of the collection Love Cloud, a line of innerwear that’s “pillow-soft, squishy, plush, [and] can’t-help-but-touch.”

Jirau is one of the “18 dynamic women from a myriad of backgrounds.”

On Instagram, Victoria’s Secret said, “By age 25, Puerto Rican model, Sofia Jirau, has already conquered her ultimate dream: to model on the most important runways in the world. In 2019, Sofia launched the online store, Alavett, selling clothing, accessories, and home products.”

The brand added, “What did it mean to her to be featured in The Love Cloud Campaign? ‘It is a dream come true. I am happy to be able to show everyone that Sofia Jirau is going to shine around the world. I feel confident because fear is not in my vocabulary.'”

On her own page, Jirau said, “One day I dreamed of it, I worked on it, and today it is a dream come true. I can finally tell you my big secret. I am the first Victoria’s Secret model with Down Syndrome!”

She also said, “Thank you for always supporting me in my projects. Thank you for seeing me as a model and making me part of the Love Cloud Collection inclusion campaign. This is just the beginning, now it’s formed! Inside and out, there are no limits!”

Jirau is joined by a roster of women with different backgrounds, body types, ages, races, and abilities. For example, Celilo Miles is a firefighter, Jailyn Matthews is a medic and pilates instructor, and Valentina Sampiao is a transgender model.

The campaign also includes some notable names, including models Hailey Bieber and Shalom Harlow.
