After the two talks, Ronald let participants have a little fun by having us play the CASH FLOW GAME. This was one of my favorite parts of the seminar. The goal of the game was to get out of the rat race. In our group, I picked the card with the highest paying job… the Pilot. The guy beside me, Rommel, on the other hand picked the lowest paying job… a Janitor. The goal of the game was to get out of the rat race and start living our dreams. To get out of the rat race, we need to be earning a bigger PASSIVE income than our monthly expenses. With my salary, I was sure to win the rat race. Right? Wrong! Basically, we’re in the rat race if we live paycheck to paycheck.

After playing the game for about 2 hours, 90 to 95% of the participants were still stuck in the rate race! Including myself! The first who got out of the rat race was surprisingly not a rich fellow or anything close, it was Rommel the janitor! We kept laughing about it and even joked about just becoming a janitor and quit our day jobs for real. On the serious note though, this game taught us so much that no amount of words can explain. It really felt like the game of life.

I asked Rommel how he felt and how he got where he is, he gave a rather long answer but the keyword was “Opportunities”. He got lucky because an opportunity came his way during the first few rounds, he bought some stocks. Later on, the bank doubled that stock, and even further down, the bank bought back that stuck for around 600% more than what Rommel paid for. Had he not grabbed that opportunity earlier, he would have missed all this! I on the other hand only had the opportunity to buy stocks ONCE! Sad thing was, I chose not to buy. Later on, I did regret it.

It’s not really about the stocks itself but the opportunities that come our way. We need to grab them because we never know when they will come by again.
