Lovi Poe on Starring in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo: “This One’s for You, Papa”

Coco Martin will be back on primetime TV with another one of Fernando Poe Jr’s classics. This time, he will be paired with Da King’s daughter herself, Lovi Poe.

The news came shortly after the end of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”. Apparently, the latest FPJ movie adaptation is coming this 2023, as announced by Dreamscape Entertainment on Monday, December 5. In line with this, Lovi shared her thoughts on starring in one of her father’s projects.

“Couldn’t think of a better team to work with on my first FPJ project,” she said in a post along with photos of Batang Quiapo‘s cast and crew who are very excited to work on the upcoming teleserye. The Supreme Actress promised, “Ibibigay namin ang lahat ng aming makakaya para sa lahat ng patuloy na tumatangkilik sa nagiisang Da King.”

“This one’s for you, Papa,” she concluded.

Charo Santos-Concio, who recently announced the end of MMK, will also be joining them in the upcoming Pinoy TV series. Other “Batang Quiapo” cast members are Lito Lapid, Christopher de Leon, John Estrada, Tommy Abuel, Pen Medina, Susan Africa, Cherry Pie Picache, Allan Paule, Mark Lapid, Ronwaldo Martin, and Mercedes Cabral.

For those who have not seen the original 1986 film, “Batang Quiapo” is an action-comedy about Manila’s pickpocket kingpin Baldo (FPJ) who finally comes out of prison and meets a young female thief named Maria (Maricel Soriano).
