LOOK: 26 Years Ago, The Fury Of Mt. Pinatubo Through The Lens Of Doc Vitt

It has already been 26 years since the last eruption of Mount Pinatubo. Recorded as the eruption that had the most devastating effect on a densely populated area, the explosion of the volcano is considered as the second largest eruption of this century.

This album post by Vitt Pantig shows photos of the 1991 Mt Pinatubo eruption’s aftermath. As seen on the photos, bridges and buildings near the volcano had crumbled down and collapsed while roads were destroyed.

Homes, vehicles, and almost everything in sight were covered in volcanic ash. The eruption was also coupled by an earthquake that has destroyed mountain sides.

It is no doubt that the calamity really brought the area to its knees, rendering everything nearly destroyed. However the photos also showed how the Filipino people united and helped each other build the communities again.

We hope that a disaster like that will not have to happen ever again.
