Learn and Get Hired is an event hosted by Penbrothers where job finders can apply for positions in start-up companies, be interviewed, and be processed all in the same day. While this recruitment is happening, speakers give career chats to the job finders related to the application process. Penbrothers is working on turning this into an annual event.
This year, Alexa Calingo, community manager of Common Ground, Angelito Cabigao, founder of Kultureko, and Junessa Rendon, founder and CEO of Seeking Sight, joined the event and shared with the applicants experiences and career tips.
Alexa Calingo’s Career With a Purpose talk reminded the applicants the importance of choosing a career in line with their passions and purposes. She says, “Knowing your passions and purposes can help lead you to the right track.”
In Nailing that Interview by Angelito Cabigao, the applicants are given five important points to keep in mind and to apply before, during, and after the job interview. These points are (1) knowing yourself and the company, (2) being the early bird, (3) being aware of actions or body language, (4) listening to the interviewer carefully, and (5) leaving a lasting impression.
The career chats closed with Junessa Rendon’s LinkedIn for Corporate Branding talk. In this talk, she teaches the applicants how to optimise their LinkedIn profiles. She puts emphasis on improving the profiles’ core-identities, personas, brand stories, visual identities, and core strategies.
At the end of all talks, the applicants were given the opportunity to have a question and answer forum with the three speakers. Questions regarding paying scales, strategising weaknesses, and adjusting for the companies they apply to were all tackled.
While these talks were occurring, some applicants were being called for interviews, and some companies were already processing applications. Learn and Get Hired is hosted by Penbrothers. Penbrothers works with start-up companies and small and medium-sized enterprises to help them build and scale their teams with talent in the Philippines at a fraction of the cost. They make it easier for companies to focus on their core business by taking care of the talent sourcing, hiring, payroll and office space.
