International Condom Day: Gabay and AHF Philippines Raise Awareness of Safe and Healthy Sex

This International Condom Day, the GABAY Community Center, in collaboration with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Philippines, is hosted a ‘Walk for a Cause’ event to inform everyone that condoms remain the optimal choice for ensuring safer and more enjoyable intimate moments with their partner.

The goal is to raise awareness about safe sex practices, with a particular emphasis on promoting consistent condom usage. The event was held at Barangay 178 Camarin, Caloocan City and featured Condom Distribution Drive and refilling dispensers at partner locations.

Dhan Chris Reyes, Project Support Officer of the GABAY Community Center, emphasized the importance of condoms. According to the World Health Organization, over 1 million people acquire an STI globally every day. Condoms have played a pivotal role in averting 117 million new HIV infections since 1990. Reyes stressed that condoms are not just safe and sexy but essential in the global fight against HIV/AIDS.

International Condom Day, observed annually on February 13, offers people worldwide the opportunity to access free condoms and vital information on proper usage and sexual health. On ICD 2024, the message is clear: condoms save lives and remain the best option for preventing HIV, other sexually transmitted infections, and unplanned pregnancies.
