Half-bloods, rejoice! A few months after it was announced that we’re getting a new Disney series based on the best-selling book series, “Percy Jackson & The Olympians,” we now have more exciting updates about the show.

In an announcement by Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan, he excitedly shares the news that 13-year old actor Walker Scobell has been officially chosen for the lead role of Percy Jackson.

Walker Scobell is known for his amazing role as the younger version of Ryan Reynolds’ character in Netflix’s “The Adam Project”.

In his announcement, Riordan shares that the “incredibly talented young man” blew them all away with his audition tapes. “It was obvious to me and the rest of the team that Walker had the perfect mix of comedic timing, sweetness, rebelliousness, snark and heroism to embody our hero Percy Jackson,” he reveals.

Scobell is also a huge fan of the book series, as Riordan shares. The actor was even wearing a Camp Half-Blood shirt when Riordan shared the exciting news with him!

While we’re all excited to see Scobell bring Percy Jackson to life on the small screen (especially since he’s closer in age to the actual character), there’s still no release date yet set for the series.
