What is Bangkok Ice Bath?

Bangkok Ice Baths is a community based in Bangkok that meets regularly to take ice baths, make new friends, and enjoy the many benefits of both ice baths and even saunas. It was founded 3 years ago—a commendable period despite the training regimen only “trending” recently.

Many people think taking ice baths is only for professional athletes. Bangkok Ice Baths wants to change this perception and make the activity more accessible for everyone, especially because of its reported health benefits.

Benefits of taking ice baths

Athletes have been using cold therapy for years to aid in muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and increase energy levels. You can experience the same!

At Bangkok Ice Baths, you can join the ranks of these chilly champions and experience the benefits for yourself. So if you’re looking to give your body a little TLC and rejuvenate your spirit, an ice bath might just be the ticket.

It’s been said that your body releases a high level of dopamine to give you that elated feeling afterward. That means you might feel happier and less stressed. Your body may also feel more relaxed, helping combat body fatigue.

Beat the heat

Imagine stepping into a room filled with ice and frigid air, where you can forget the unbearable sweating outside. At Bangkok Ice Baths, you can take the idea of cooling off to another level.

Escape the sunny weather and freeze your worries away. With a temperature hovering around 6-10 degrees Celsius, you’ll quickly forget about the tropical heat!

Meet new people

What’s also nice about Bangkok Ice Baths is that it’s a community. You will meet like-minded people with the same goal: to have a healthier lifestyle and to socialize.

The group meets regularly, and you’re sure to bump into several familiar faces along the way. This can be a good introduction to connect with cool people from all walks of life.

Where can I take an ice bath in Bangkok?

The community’s main location is in Thonglor. They get together at least twice a week for ice bath and sauna. It is usually on Wednesday evenings (6-9 PM) and Saturdays (10AM – 2PM).

Location differs, but you might get excited to know it’s sometimes held at The Hive, where a lovely sunset rooftop awaits. You can expect a BBQ day in Onnut, as well. You can find details of all upcoming events on their website at www.bangkokicebaths.com/events.

I’m new to these ice bath Bangkok events. What should I remember?

You have to know that this can be an intense experience. If you’re unsure about your health condition, it’s best you consult your doctor first before trying.

At these events, Bangkok Ice Baths limits people to a maximum of 5 minutes per cycle, fully immersed, to minimize the risk of hypothermia. At 4 degrees, hypothermia becomes a real risk after 15 minutes of exposure. Don’t worry though! There will be professionals there to guide you.

The three most important things that the instructors tell participants for their first ice bath are:

  1. Use deep breathing to calm yourself down during the first minute.
  2. The first 30 seconds are quite uncomfortable for most people, but it gets easier.
  3. Don’t compare yourself with anyone else—everyone reacts differently to the ice. Go at your own pace.

So chill out with this cool community (all puns intended). Aside from the social aspect of Bangkok Ice Baths, you’ll deeply appreciate how beneficial it will be for your body. Try it!
