Henshincon 2015: 10 Memorable Moments from the Henshincon Weekend

It’s a continuation of the previous item but this is more of a specific situation. Right after they viewed the Mythos trailer, we heard a knock on the door. You wouldn’t believe who came in: two cosplayers dressed as Red Mask and Five Blue.

Silliness ensued….

…and they became the actors’ “personal bodyguards” at the launch party. Henshincon 2015: 10 Memorable Moments from the Henshincon Weekend

They were also there on Day 2…just to make sure that the actors were safe from evil doers.

4. The Epic Panel Discussion

Henshincon 2015: 10 Memorable Moments from the Henshincon Weekend

Henshincon had an epic panel discussion where Red Mask and Five Blue some questions from the audience. They were assisted by Mr. Danny Torress (the translator and videographer) and Mrs. Georgette Anne Inaba.  There were a number of interesting questions asked and both actors gave their respective answers. Highlights of the panel discussions were the following questions:

Q: Who was their favorite villain?

Red Mask: Igamu

Five Blue: Garoa

Q:  Which Super Sentai team they would love to have a crossover with?

Red Mask: Dairanger

Five Blue: Turboranger (not to be confused with Power Rangers: Turbo)

Q:  Favorite Experience on the set

Red Mask: The wonderful working chemistry of all the cast, staff and crewmembers of his show

Five Blue:  Eating his favorite dish on the Fiveman set.

Before they did the panel discussion, there was one awesome moment where Kei told us to ‘hold it’ and join him and Ryosuke for a ‘crowd selfie’. It was one epic crowd selfie with the two Super Sentai actors during the launch party that we will never…eeeeevvvvveeerrrr…forget!

2. HENSHIN~!

Both men did their respective Henshin (a.k.a. transformation) role call and poses to the delight of the fans at the private Press Conference at Eri Curry and on the main Henshincon event. If you are a huge fan of either the Fiveman or Maskman series and saw those moments, I think you would’ve had a huge fanboy/fangirl moment just like we did. Those two moments will be moments me and fellow Super Sentai fans will cherish forever. Speaking of things that we will cherish forever…

1. Childhood Dreams Coming True

Meeting the actors of Red Mask and Five Blue in person was a once in a lifetime experience for a lot of guests at Henshincon.  After 20 plus years, I finally got to meet two of my childhood heroes. Basically, the whole weekend was just like that. After years of being a fan, of growing up seeing these two guys on my television set (on their respective shows, mind you)…I finally got the chance to see them up close, shake their hands and get a snapshot with them. Just like the rest of the fans who had that opportunity, my childhood dream of seeing Red Mask and Five Blue have come true. I’m pretty sure their childhood dream of seeing Red Mask and Five Blue in person was an item off their bucket list as well.

The weekend I spent in Henshincon 2015 will stick to my mind for the rest of my life. It’s not every day I get to interact with my childhood heroes.  I’d like to give my heartfelt thanks to JEFusion for making this possible and also a big thank you to Ryosuke Kaizu (Red Mask) and Kei Shindachiya (Five Blue) for going to the Philippines and giving us super sentai fans the best weekend of our lives! Thank you so much, Kei-san and Roysuke-san!  Here’s to Henshincon 2016 and beyond.
