Henshincon 2015: 10 Memorable Moments from the Henshincon Weekend

Henshincon 2015: 10 Memorable Moments from the Henshincon Weekend

Henshincon 2015, a weekend of reliving the 90s (or late 80s) kid in you that featured Ryosuke Kaizu (Red Mask) and Kei Shindachiya (Five Blue), has passed. It’s a bit of a bummer to see that epic weekend end. However, I know it’s always nice to look back at some of the amazing moments and experiences of the Henshincon weekend. Here is my list of the Top 10 Memorable Experiences from the Henshincon Weekend!!!

10. The Rapping Lady of PEARL

The one of Henshincon’s beneficiaries was People Empowerment for ARthritis and Lupus (PEARL), an organization that supports patients with chronic debilitating ARTHRITIS (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis) and LUPUS or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) deserve to lead meaningful and productive lives despite their illness. Part of Henshincons proceeds would be given to PEARL to help their cause. That said, it was rather refreshing and amazing to see one of PEARL’s spokesperson, a senior-aged lady, step on stage and rap her heart out. She dished out an English and a Tagalong (for her encore) rap to the delight of the Henshincon audience. The rapping lady was just one of the many highlights of Henshincon!

 9.  Awesome Cosplayers and Some Funny Moments

There were a lot of cool cosplayers during Henshincon. From Super Sentai, Kamen Rider to even Sailor Moon, everyone pulled off their best outfits during that weekend. There were also some very humorous characters that were on display (Hi Akibared) and really amped up the funny level with their cosplay. How?

YouTube star Chris Cantada had a chance to meet the two actors and introduced them to the video containing the trailer of Mythos, an upcoming Pinoy Super Sentai web series. The two expressed excitement and amusement upon viewing the said trailer. During the main event of Henshincon, Chris (Green Ranger) and fellow cast member Carina Crisostomo (Yellow Ranger) had a chance to meet the Super Sentai actors and pose for the camera.

7. Red Mask Greeting us ‘Kamusta’

This moment deserves an item of its own. The actor of Red Mask might have picked up one or two tagalong lines from his Filipina wife, the lovely Mrs. Georgette Anne Inaba, so there was no doubt that he would try to speak tagalong at one point. But when he did, the crowd went wild.

6. Those Random Moments where Five Blue Dances to the Kyoruger Ending Theme

Kei Shindachiya was full of energy and humor during his visit to the Philippines. There were two distinct times where we noticed he liked the ending song of Kyroyuger (the sentai series adapted by Power Rangers: Dino Charge).  The first instance was in the alunch party where he and his tablemates did the dance. Sadly, this writer failed to capture that moment. We did manage to get snapshot of him and his bodyguard dancing to the tune while waiting for the autograph signing on Henshincon’s 2nd day. Both instances were quite amusing and adorable. It goes to show you that Kei-san is a person who loves that certain tune. You’re the man, Kei-san!

Oh, speaking of the bodyguards…check out the next page for more pictures of Henshincon 2015!
