Remember when they announced that a ‘Gambit’ movie would soon be in the works? Yeah, we hardly remember that news anymore, either. After all, it was announced so long ago, we sort of forgot about it.
However, even though a merge is happening between Fox and Disney soon, Fox is apparently still pushing forward with X-Men projects – including ‘Gambit’. The GWW.com recently announced that ‘Gambit’ will finally begin production in New Orleans in February 2019. (We aren’t holding our breaths, though, since we’ve already heard this before. :p)
‘Gambit’ was originally slated to start production in February this year until it was pushed to the summer and then put on hold indefinitely. Is this new production date finally going to push through?
So far, Channing Tatum seems to still be attached to the movie even long after he was first announced to be playing the hero. In fact, he sees the setbacks as blessings in disguise.
In an interview with HeyUGuys, Channing said, “I think we got lucky. We got hit with some setbacks and it was all for a good reason. We were trying to do something completely different. We were trying to do something that this genre of movie hasnโt seen before. We kept running into the same problems, and then ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Logan’ came through and kicked the doors down.”
Are you excited to see ‘Gambit’ on the big screen sometime soon or do you think they should just scrap this project altogether?
