Gabbi Garcia Speaks Against Body Shamers: “Character Development Naman Tayo Diyan”

More and more celebrities have been breaking their silence and speaking out against the many criticisms of netizens on their bodies. Just scroll through some celebrity selfies and you’ll most definitely see unwanted criticisms in the comments section.

Earlier this week, Kapuso actress Gabbi Garcia did not mince words and spoke up against these body shamers through a very honest tweet:

She lists down some of the usual criticizing comments many Filipinos use, such as, “Ang taba mo” (You’re so fat) and “Buntis ka ba?” (Are you pregnant?).

Garcia then calls out the public and asks to “take a break from body shaming”.

Bawal tumaba at mag-stress eat ng lockdown? Bawal imaging bloated? (Can’t we gain weight and stress eat during the lockdown? Can’t we be bloated?)” she continues in the tweet. She also says that in this day and age, “character development” is very much welcome.

Fans and followers were quick to agree with Garcia’s tweet, with some of them sharing their own experiences with body shamers.

We totally agree with Gabbi Garcia, and we also look forward to seeing character development in our fellow Filipinos!
