When In Manila, it’s best to be careful and be very aware of the crazy weather, typhoons and flash floods that we get here in the Philippines!
See what happened to this unsuspecting motorist, named Christopher Lao, as he crosses this flooded street. His car didn’t stand a chance!
Christopher Lao Floating Car: Smart guy vs flood waters of Manila
In all honesty though, this video is kinda funny. I like how the guy gets really mad at the people there and starts blaming everyone from the MMDA, the reporters and even the people there. He totally brushes off all sense of responsibility as he says that it it everyone else’s fault, but not his. This video is currently trending online with people saying lots of crazy things about this driver.
Here’s some things people are saying online:
“He should have kept his cool and just admitted to his mistake. He could have said something like: ‘we all make mistakes, I didn’t notice or think of how deep it might have been’ or something like that. Instead, he decides to be a complete jackass on TV.”
“Poor guy, he’ll probably be an internet celebrity now”
“I understand how he can be in a bad mood after this, but blaming everyone else just makes him look stupid… oh well I mean stupider.”
“dumass”
Either way, no one got hurt and we now all got a good laugh about this (well except for the driver).

Maybe he thought AMPHIBIAN yung kotse nya, malamang kakapanood lang ng transformers kala magttransform kotse nya haha…but kidding aside, his soaring EGO and lack of humbleness made him to be popular in cyber bullying. Yes, it’s funny (the photos, exchange of taglines, kahit ako sobrang natawa), but the bottom line, it is a huge lesson to everyone…even if you are well educated. COMMON SENSE and HUMBLENESS (needed ito for we are all subject to stupidity as a human being) is indeed needed. 🙂
I felt bad for him. Its weird how everyone is taking the incident us not that serious when it could have cost his life.
Another victim of new media..
chris lao: “please be informed that iam sending my apologies to the people i may have hurt. for your information, iam captain america, i have been trapped in ice. i didn’t know that when it rains in the Philippines, it floods.”
He’s an idiot. I saw it happen. I was in an FX PUV and we were rolling in front of him. So were a couple of cars. But I think he was a distance behind. The FX I rode in didn’t know the area that well either but caution took over so the driver decided to turn around and wait to see if other cars can pass. So did 1-2 vehicles. Then, out of nowhere, this green car comes along (at quite a speed) then plows into the flood water. He didn’t even slow down that much – he just went for it.
After he got out of his car, he got really mad at the people who pushed his car out of the water and at the people around. Why? Because the people didn’t tell him that the flood waters were deep. How can those people do that when he just charged at the flood water with gusto? True though – there are no signs but only an idiot would risk plowing his car in high-flood waters at an area he is not familiar with.
Prudence over bravado, my boy.
Common sense, where is it? Yun ang mahirap sa atin, we all blame the ills to the government when we could have made another way around as an individual.
And also, he’ll become an instant internet celebrity by this.
