Good news for Emily in Paris fans: Netflix has confirmed that the hit show will be returning for a third and fourth season.
The news was announced following the premiere of the second season, which was released on December 22, 2021.
Emily in Paris tells the story of Emily, an American who moves to Paris (hence the title) for a job opportunity. The show has received mixed reviews, with some praising lead actress Lilly Collins’ performance, and others critiquing how the French are portrayed.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the first season was described as “Though its depiction of France is tres cliché, Emily in Paris is rom-com fantasy at its finest, spectacularly dressed and filled with charming performances.” Meanwhile, the second season got this review: “Emily in Paris remains a sugary soufflé, but it’s liable to give a toothache to viewers who are seeking anything deeper than a frivolous romp.”
Despite the mixed reviews, the show has received a strong following among viewers, with both seasons making it to the Global Netflix Top 10. The second season topped the list across 94 countries and has been watched for 107.6 million hours from December 22 to 26.
Emily in Paris has been nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actress – Television Series, Musical or Comedy for Collins at the Golden Globes, Outstanding Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmys, and Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Program (Half-Hour) at the Primetime Creative Arts Emmys.
