Crazy over calligraphy & coffee: a Basic Brush Pen Calligraphy and Basic Cupping workshop

1 Calligraphy 5

Wow. Time flies so fast. We’re now entering the most wonderful time of the year – the Yuletide season! It’s the time of the year where people are generous, more loving, and more affectionate. As we become a centric-world and how technology makes everything convenient for us, we sometimes yearn for the old school way of communication: manually sending and writing letters!

Back in the day, where the only means of communication is through writing, penmanship was quite pivotal. I’m pretty sure you’ve also tried your best to perfect your cursive writing as it looked satisfying to see. Calligraphy is a visual art related to writing. It is the design and execution of lettering with a broad tip instrument, brush, or other writing instruments. Calligraphy is described as “the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious, and skillful manner.”

Although Calligraphy has been done during the ancient times and had just emerged again lately, it is truly another outlet to de-stress in our every day ambiguities. Speaking of de-stressing and nostalgic moments, this event wouldn’t be perfect without coffee!

Therefore, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Life in Tagaytay, and Beth Edralin of Loved Letter by Beth teamed up to give you an interactive and an afternoon full of nostalgic delights on October 20!

This brush pen calligraphy workshop for beginners is for anyone who is interested in this beautiful visual art – whether young ones & young once.  I promise you, after this workshop, you will want to learn more and you may even be inspired to write more. In this day & age, we have relied too much on the computer that we have almost forgotten the beauty of handwriting or penmanship.

About the teacher: Beth is into calligraphy and watercolors. Her interest in writing beautiful letters started when she was in her teens.  A late bloomer in the arts, she started attending workshops on calligraphy (brush & dip pen or pointed pen) only in 2015, after being inspired by her calligrapher friend; and this brought back her love for writing beautifully. To enhance her calligraphy works, she started studying watercolors, in particular, florals. Beth works full-time in a multinational bank, is the mom to 3 girls, and wife to a supportive and loving husband.  Now that her daughters are grown-ups, Beth spends her free time attending workshops, practicing calligraphy and floral watercolor painting.  She also gives tutorials on calligraphy and accepts commissioned works (addressing wedding/birthday/event envelopes).

Workshop fee is P2,000, inclusive of materials (brush pens, papers, handouts & freebies), and snacks. A reservation fee of P800 is required, balance to be paid during the Workshop. Isn’t it so heartwarming to receive a nicely handwritten letter, especially if it was sent to you via snail mail? I get giddy over that, don’t you?

So bring your awesome self and let us show you how to start this beautiful journey!
