Cavite Begins Mass Testing for COVID-19

Governor Jonvic Remulla announced this Tuesday that Cavite’s COVID-19 testing center has been given permission to operate by the Department of Health.

De La Salle Health Sciences Institute in Dasmarinas City will be housing the testing center. Their laboratories were given level 4 accreditation by the DOH.

However, patients must not go to DLS-HSI to be tested. Testing will take place in designated areas and will be handled by the appropriate local government units.

Remulla also assured the public that testing capacity for Cavite has increased. From just one polymerase chain reaction machines, the province now has 3. This also means that results will arrive in just 24-48 hours instead of the previous 1-week wait.

Testing phases will be rolled out starting April 15, Wednesday. Mass testing for suspected COVID-19 cases has already begun for the cities of Bacoor, Imus, and Dasmarinas.

“Expect the positive cases to increase but also expect the spread of the virus to decrease,” Remulla warns. “We will exert all efforts to stop the spread of this virus.”
