Beyond the Numbers: Navigating a Data-Informed Philippine Ecosystem

Staying true to its theme, Beyond the Numbers: Navigating a Data-Informed Philippine Ecosystem, NYC 17 highlighted the role of data in measuring, evaluating, and guiding economic policies and other societal impacts. The program featured a diverse set of speakers, with topics ranging from the strategic capabilities of data science to design thinking.

The delegates were also able to showcase their skills through the diverse set of competitions. The timeless Glimpse video making competition, Ink writing competition, and the newly introduced Capture infographic making contest did not disappoint in bringing out the creative side of the delegates. Their innovation and insights in tackling the country’s current issues were put to the test in the Quiz Bee and SMART Pitch competition that was co-presented by edukasyon.ph. However, NYC is not only about competition – lifelong friendships were also made in the Amazing Race, with the goal of bringing together bright minds all around the nation.

Held last November 28 and 29 via Zoom, the annual National Youth Congress (NYC) is a nationwide convention organized by the UP Economics Society and the UP School of Economics Student Council.
