Arjo Atayde just filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) today as a representative of Quezon Cityโs first congressional district. On a Facebook post, the actor wrote why he entered politics and is running for congress.
“Pandemic has taught me a lot of things. This time given the reality โ I think more than brains, more than the knowledge, we need leaders who have dignity, who have the heart. May malasakit sa kapwa. โYun talaga ang importante,” the actor explained.
He also emphasized the need to step up during the pandemic. “Public service should no longer be mediocre, di na dapat tayo makuntento sa โpwede naโ or โok na yan!โ We are up against the wall with this pandemic. We are one of the countries with poor Covid-19 response. They say that longer experience in public service equates to good governance. But the question is, nararamdaman ba ito ng ating mga kababayan?”
“This is a serious matter and we need serious people to handle this. QC needs help! Let me be the catalyst of change in District 1, Quezon City,” Atayde concluded.
