Voltes V is set to have a local remake that will air within the 2nd quarter of 2023. With the shoot almost done and teasers coming out, more and more people are getting excited about this classic series.

Ysabel didn’t immediately think of auditioning for the role. “Actually when I auditioned for Voltes V, di ko alam na may audition. I saw the trailer in the new year countdown ng GMA pero I didn’t expect na they were holding auditions kasi i thought na may cast na sila”, Ysabel shared.
Ysabel actually auditioned for the role on the last day of the casting call when her handler told her about it while she was in GMA. “Sobrang destiny lang talaga kasi if I wasn’t there in GMA that day, I probably wouldn’t have auditioned”, she added.

When asked how she auditioned, Ysabel shared that she had an idea of Voltes V and was auditioning for the role of Jamie and Sandra. “I was already not expecting to get Jamie. I wasn’t expecting to get the lead role so I was preparing more for Sandra”, she shared. “Syempre diba, when you haven’t been the lead yet, di mo ineexpect na that would be your big break.”, she added.

When asked how she trained for the role, she shares that she was able to prepare during the pandemic. Ysabel was cast back in 2020 before the pandemic and the series was delayed to 2022-2023. “Because of that (pandemic) I was given around more than a year to prepare” Ysabel shared. She trained for arnis, muay Thai, kick boxing, wushu, and different martial arts needed for the role.

Ysabel related to the character of Jamie, as her dad is also a general who she says have ‘tough love’. “I know the feeling of you want to improve yourself, you wanna make your dad proud”, she added. Ysabel also says they both have great motivation, like her when she sets a goal, she sets her heart to it.

When Ysabel started playing the role of Jamie, she shares that she discovered confidence. When she started in showbiz, she shares that she has always been a little shy and the role really empowered her and made her feel more confident.
