Daniel Radcliffe Is Playing Weird Al Yankovich in a Biopic and We Have Questions…

Weird Al Yankovich has blessed us with many hilarious and strange songs over the years that parodied some of the most popular music of our time. I’m certain that you’ve rocked out to “Eat It,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “White & Nerdy,” and “Bedrock Anthem” at least once in your lives. It’s no wonder that a movie based on his life is finally in the works! What caught us off-guard, though, is who was chosen to portray him in it.

Daniel Radcliffe of the “Harry Potter” film franchise was reported to be playing the iconic musician in his biopic that will exclusively be shown on The Roku Channel—an announcement that no one expected at all.

In a statement, Weird Al said that he was “absolutely thrilled” about Daniel’s casting, adding in jest that he has “no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember [Daniel] for.”

Weird Al co-wrote the feature-length biopic which “holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle,” according to the official press release.

He currently reigns as the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time. He is also a five-time Grammy Awards winner, with nearly 200 screen credits since 1983.
