Kanye West Files to Legally Change His Name

Is it time to say goodbye to “Kanye West”? The 44-year-old rapper has reportedly filed to change his full legal name, Kanye Omari West, to his nickname which only consists of two letters.

With no middle or last name, Kanye has filed to just be called “Ye” citing “personal reasons” as the basis of his sudden request. Kanye has been calling himself by that nickname for years now, but he will be needing the approval of a judge before it becomes official.

Kanye has also used the term as the title of his eighth studio album back in 2018. In an interview with Boy Boy at the time, he explained: “I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means ‘you’.”

“So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us,” he continued. “It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye – just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything. The album is more of a reflection of who we are.”

This news comes after Kanye had allegedly broken up with model Irina Shayk after a two-month whirlwind romance following his divorce from Kim Kardashian, whom he had been with for nearly a decade.
