According to a Lancet Report in 2012 entitled “Adolescence: a foundation for future health,” foundations established during adolescence in terms of health and education will produce significant effects on social and economic development. Indeed, young people are viable shapers of economic progress, provided that they are healthy and trained properly.

This year, the Mu Sigma Phi Sorority, together with Merck Sharp and Dohme Philippines, with the help of Zonta Club of Makati Legaspi, JCI Makati Princess Urduja, UP Junior Social Workers’ Association of the Philippines, UP Medicine Choir, UP Medical Students for Social Responsibility-IPPNW Philippines, UP Medical Students’ Society, and WhenInManila.com, will be kicking off its third installment of Sine GaMUtan, with the theme: “Championing the Community.”
This webinar aims to explore the topics of teenage mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, teenage pregnancy, and vaccination for teenagers with renowned speakers in their respective fields. Dr. Gladdy Maura G. Facun, an obstetrician-gynecologist, will be heading Usap Tayo: Kumusta Ka Ngayong Pandemya?, a lecture on teenage mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Maria Geraldine N. Castillo-Torralba, a maternal fetal medicine specialist, will be tackling Ang Batang Ina, a lecture on teenage pregnancy. Bakuna Para sa Kabataan Ngayon Pandemya, a lecture on vaccination for teenagers during the pandemic will be handled by Dr. Regina B. Pascua-Berba, an infectious disease specialist.
