DepEd Announces Official Start Of Classes for the New School Year

The Department of Education has announced the official start of classes through a Facebook post on Friday. Schools will officially be opening the new school year on September 13, 2021.

President Duterte approved the date among the recommended options by DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones. In the announcement, the department also thanked the President for his support to the education sector.

“We hope for our stakeholders’ continued cooperation and support as we prepare for another challenging yet worthwhile endeavor of educating our children amid a global health crisis,” says the announcement.

In an advisory released at the end of June, DepEd has allowed private schools and non-DepEd schools to start their school years earlier than the general school opening, provided that there will be no face-to-face classes.
