Should We Continue Wearing Face Shields? DOST Exec Shares His Thoughts

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and several other groups have pushed for the face shield policy to be lifted. According to the mayor, this is to avoid additional financial burden to our countrymen and ease their worries.

However, an official of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has reportedly expressed his support for the continued implementation of the policy requiring face shields in public places. He noted that face shields serve as an extra layer of protection from COVID-19 in a recent interview with “The Chiefs” over One News.

DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development executive director Jaime Montoya said, “We still favor [the use of face shields], especially in this critical period.”

“Maybe the cases seem to be going down, but I think we have to be sure that it is going down to levels that are manageable before we even think of changing some of these policies,” he adds.

How about you, what do you think? Should we continue wearing face shields in public?
