If you loved the live Netflix adaptation of the popular book series “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” then you’re going to rejoice over this news: author Jenny Han is bringing another well-loved book of hers to life—only this time, it’s going to be a television series!
Her novel, “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” has officially been picked up by Amazon for an eight-episode show that’s said to be premiering this year. The novel is the first of a trilogy, with “It’s Not Summer Without You” and “We’ll Always Have Summer” as its sequels. It follows the story of a teenaged girl named Isabel “Belly” who spends her summer break with her mom and brother, as well as her mother’s best friend and two sons—both of whom start becoming attracted to her as the days go by.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty is many years in the making, and I’m so excited to tell Belly’s story in 2021,” Jenny said about the screen adaptation. “For the longtime book fans, I think it will have been worth the wait. For those newly discovering the Summer series, I hope you fall in love with these characters and this place that is so dear to my heart.”
Meanwhile, the last of the “To All The Boys…” film trilogy is scheduled to premiere on Netflix this week. Though we may not be emotionally ready to let go of Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky just yet, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” may just fill in the gap that the finale will be leaving in our hearts.
