LOOK: Creative Family Had a Cute Drive-Thru Party for Their Son’s First Birthday

Every parent wishes to give their child an amazing first birthday, but what if it falls amid a global pandemic? This is the obstacle the family of Sky Gatdula experienced when they were faced with the reality that their son couldn’t have a normal first birthday party due to community quarantine rules.

But this family didn’t let that stop them from trying to make their son’s, John Skylark, first birthday memorable.

All it needed was a little bit of creativity, so they decided to have a “drive-by” party instead.

The mother, Sky Gatdula, told the story on her Facebook page:

We all know we’re still in this crazy pandemic, so for JS’ first birthday we decided to share a little something to our dear neighbors as a thank you for the overwhelming help from them. The community who warmly shared their blessings to us while we were in quarantine. (sorry po friends and family, we hope you all understand na hindi pa po tayo papayagan mag party ng maramahin and we don’t want to risk it also kala din namin tapos na ang covid pag nagbday siya, di pa pala ?)

We’ve set up a mini fruit stand then we asked our neighbors to “dropby” or “walkby” our house to wave, honk or take pictures. Once they arrived, they take pictures then we’ll just ask them to say a little message lang for JS. For those na nag walkby, we ask them to pick up their own lootbags / giveaway / food. — The bags are sanitized and we ensure to keep distance. For those who drove by, inaabot namin sakanila all the little something for them. They can choose whether magpicture sila dun sa fruit stand or dun lang sila inside the car. ?

It’s literally drop and go. In a way we tried to put a little twist to make it still memorable for JS. Thank you thank you po! ❤️

To maintain social distancing, the family set up a fruit stand outside their home, where guests could just drive by or walk by to pick up their party loot bag and takeaway food. “It’s literally drop and go,” the mom said in her post. Still, based on the pictures she shared, it looked like an awesome birthday!
