Chito Miranda Shares Honest Thoughts on People Who Like KPOP

Pinoy rapper and Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda has taken to social media to share his thoughts on Korean Pop music after a netizen aired out their frustration about the genre on his Facebook page.

Chito had posted about his band being among the top 5 OPM artists on Spotify Philippines as well as part of the top 10 bands that included non-local groups in this year’s Spotify Wrapped, for which he expressed his joy and gratitude to fans for their constant support.

However, the joy was marred by a netizen who began to complain in the comments of the post about Kpop bands, namely BTS, Blackpink, and TWICE, making the top 10 list and even taking the top spots.

Isang malaking kabobohan ang BTS at Blackpink! (BTS and Blackpink are so dumb!)” the netizen wrote. He also cursed fans of the Kpop groups and urged Filipinos to support local artists more.

The comment did not escape Chito’s attention as he replied, “Ako trip ko sila. Sobrang galing kaya nila. Kung di mo trip, oks lang naman. Ang di ko magets is bakit ang laki ng galit mo sa mga may trip sa kanila hehe! Peace and respect lang parekoy. Kanya-kanyang trip lang yan.

[Translation: “I like them. They’re so good, you know? If you don’t like them, it’s okay. What I don’t understand is why do you have so much anger towards people who like them? Let’s just have peace and respect. Everyone has their own taste in music.”]

He then said that people should just respect each other’s tastes because not everyone will like the same things that others do.

Bakit kayo galit sa trip ng iba? Kanya kanyang trip lang yan eh,” he continued in a follow-up comment. “‘Wow! Di ko sila trip! T***ina lahat ng may trip sa kanila.’ Ganun ba dapat? Di ba pwedeng iba trip nila sa trip mo tapos ok lang tayo lahat?

[Translation: “Why are you so angry at what other people like? Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. ‘Wow! I don’t like them! Curse all the people who listen to their music.

‘ Is that how it’s supposed to be? Can’t we all have different tastes and be okay with that?”]
