The episode will follow Josh and Blue seeking help from his lola (grandmother) to create the Filipino rice cake from scratch. It is set to premiere on November 20, 11 AM ET (November 21, 12 AM Manila time), but we’ve got our first look at it thanks to a teaser clip we found on Twitter.

We have an entire generation of American kids being exposed to a Filipino dude on TV, doing the “Mano po” to his Lola, & making bibingka. My kids are seeing their lives on TV,” wrote clinical psychologist, author, and professor E.J. Ramos David, Ph.D.

The video shows Josh (Joshua Dela Cruz) welcoming his lola (Carolyn Fe) to his home and doing the “mano po,” which is a Filipino gesture of respect for elders.

Filipinos across the world have been reacting positively to the teaser clip, with most admitting that it made them tear up knowing that they’re being properly represented in popular media.

Josh’s lola will be played by Carolyn Fe, who is a veteran actress with her own theatre production company and is best known for her singing career. She specializes in the genre of jazz and rhythm & blues while also having been a professional dancer. As a dancer, she choreographed for her own professional dance company and owned and operated a dance school offering classical ballet, tap, jazz, and aerobics.

Most recently Fe appeared in a Toronto production of “Hilot Means Healer” by Jo SiMalaya Alcampo. In 2019, she released a blues album titled “Sugat Ko.”
