Here are the Latest Updates to the Upcoming ‘The Sandman’ Series on Netflix

It’s been a while since we first heard that Netflix would be giving life to Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Sandman’. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was originally supposed to direct and star in a movie adaptation before he left due to creative differences; and the production of the Netflix series was shut down last March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This hasn’t been all bad for ‘The Sandman’, though.

During the DC Fandome panel entitled ‘The Sandman Universe: Enter the Dreaming’, Gaiman admits that despite the entire world being on pause because of COVID-19, their team has taken advantage of the delay by perfecting the scripts as well as they possibly can. Now that they’re easing back into production, they are starting to cast again.

Gaiman also shares more info about the upcoming series: “It’s still going to start in 1916; but the thing that happens in Sandman No.1… the point where it starts is not 1888, it’s now. This gives us tremendous freedom. That is very liberating.”

While waiting for things to move along with this project, make sure to read the graphic novels. Trust me: they are incredibly beautiful and well-written and very much worth your time and money!
