YouTube star Cong (real name Lincoln Velasquez) has taken an electric razor to his head in support for his good friend and fellow vlogger Emman Nimedez who has recently been diagnosed with leukemia.
In the latter part of Cong’s latest vlog titled “BERSWAN” posted on June 17, he shocked fans when he revealed his decision to shave his head, which he says is his way of expressing solidarity with Emman, who has already gone bald in preparation for his chemotherapy sessions.
“Sa mga nakapanuod sa vlog ni Emman, nakita niyo naman na nagpakalbo na siya, and ito rin ‘yung way nakita ko of showing support to Emman na hindi siya nag-iisa sa laban na ‘to,” Cong said.
[“To those who have watched Emman’s vlog, you’ve already seen that he decided to go bald. And I see this as my way of showing support to Emman, to let him know that he isn’t alone in this fight.”]
Cong did not reveal his shaved head in the vlog or on any social media post since, but he did show clips of his friends and family reacting to his new look.
This isn’t the only thing Cong has done for Emman. Last month, he and his friends on “Team Payaman” led a charity stream to help raise funds for Emman’s treatment. They were able to collect USD 6,518, or over PHP 326,000.
It was back in May when Emman revealed that he had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, which is a type of blood cancer. In his latest vlog, he shared with fans that he had already finished his first cycle of chemotherapy.
