LOOK: This Mayor in Cavite Will Give 10 Lechon to the Barangay with the Least ECQ Violators

Lechon FTW! Much has been said about the current pandemic and the last thing we want to hear is another statistic. President Rodrigo Duterte once again extended the quarantine in some areas, including Calabarzon or Region IV-A.

For Mayor Randy Salamat of Alfonso, Cavite, this pandemic is an opportunity to show teamwork and bayanihan. So, to help curb the curve, he is encouraging everyone in Alfonso to stay home by rewarding 10 lechons to the barangay with zero or the least ECQ violators.

According to Mayor Salamat, the contest will end with the ECQ on May 15.

As mentioned in his post, these yummy treats are donated by Ysrael Landicho and Dodo Credo of RedKnot Auto Repair, which is also located in Alfonso.

Governor Jonvic Remulla shares a list of violators on his Facebook page daily; and sadly, Alfonso is one of them.

Mayor Randy Salamat’s generosity doesn’t stop there. He also gave away frozen fish fillet, fresh chicken, and other essential ingredients for residents to use.

For Salamat, these are just simple gestures to thank his constituents for obeying the ECQ rules and for noticing their best in keeping a level head. “It’s hard to think when you’re hungry,” he explains.

Randy Salamat is always on time with his weekly rations, as well. He gives out fresh meat and 5 (sometimes 10!) kilos of rice to residents. He also practices equality; the rich and the poor always get the same ration. In a crisis like this, any food given to us is a blessing.

Mayor Randy Salamat hopes this will motivate Alfonsoeños to unite as one as we all try to heal as one.
