95-Year-Old Man in Mandaluyong City Greeted with Applause for Recovering from COVID-19

A 95-year-old patient was greeted with loud cheers and applause as he made his way out of a hospital in Mandaluyong City after he successfully recovered from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.

Dozens of health workers yelled “Mabuhay si Tatay (Long live)!” as the patient, identified as Cresencio Junio, was wheeled out of the Mandaluyong City Medical Center. The touching video was posted by Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos who was also there with her husband Benjamin Abalos Jr. during the send-off.

Isang [pag-asa] ang ibinigay sa atin ni [Lolo] Cresencio Junio na isang 95 [years] old na naka-recover sa COVID-19,” Mayor Abalos said in her post. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga doctors, nurses at sa lahat ng frontliners ng Mandaluyong City Medical Center (MCMC). Simbolo ka lolo ng liwanag na nadadanasan natin ngayon.”

As of writing, there are 4,648 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines with 297 deaths and 197 recoveries.
