WATCH: Singer of ‘Pen Pineapple Apple Pen’ Creates New Song About Coronavirus

In 2016, almost everyone we know was hooked to the viral sensation “Pen Pineapple Apple Pen” by Japanese comedian Piko-Taro. We knew the lyrics, knew the steps, and unironically helped it become the shortest song ever to make the Billboard Top 100.

Now, Piko-Taro is back with an all-new version of the song to spread awareness on the preventive measures to take amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The new track “PPAP-2020” has now turned into a handwashing anthem that you can sing while disinfecting your hands every hour. (Trust us, you won’t be able to get the tune out of your head for the next number of days.)

“I have a hand, I have soap… uh! Wash, wash, wash!” part of the lyrics says.

According to the World Health Organization, one of the best measures to protect yourself from COVID-19 is by washing your hands with soap regularly for at least 20 seconds each time.
