“With approximately 10 million Overseas Filipinos (OFs) living and working around the world, some in large concentrations in countries that are now epicenters of COVID-19, it is inevitable that our nationals will be affected by this disease,” the DFA said in a statement.

The 280 cases span over 28 countries and regions. These include the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.

However, the DFA clarified that not all have been verified by the Department of Health. Only 140 cases are currently included in the DOH record.

Meanwhile, the Philippines has recorded a total of 1,075 cases in the country.
